Continuing with our Finnish theme leading up to the Helsinki In Berlin event later this month, the NMO’s featured artist this week is Astrid Swan. The NMO’s been a fan of Astrid’s since day one, back when she was writing songs for her debut album, Poverina. That album was greeted with such an avalanche of positive press that it led to a flurry of girls-with-piano being signed up back in Finland.......After hefty touring in the US to support a Minty Fresh release, Astrid’s follow up album, Spartan Picnic, met with an equally enthusiastic response, this time propelling her into the Finnish sales chart. And now with a 3rd album ready to go called Better Than Wages, Astrid has brought an abrasive excitement to her new songs. With her clever songwriting and distinctive vocal delivery now enhanced to their fullest, Astrid’s steady but solid progress over her previous two albums is about to take joyful, giant leaps. We should all join her in doing that.
