The NMO fell in love with Murmansk (the band, not the city) during a sweltering, packed gig at Helsinki's Bar Loose earlier this year. Henkka Spinefarm had dragged us down there to proudly show us his latest signing and, boy, was he beaming like the cat that got the cream that night. This is a group that tears it up big time on stage. The sparse lighting, cavernous atmospherics, and riotous performance summons up the ghost of shoe-gazing post rock at its most inspiring.Mojo magazine already picked up on the band following a typically stunning appearance at Spot Festival in Arhus, Denmark, claiming the future of Finnish music to be secure in the hands of Murmansk.The latest album, "Eleven Eyes To Shade" is just released to much critical acclaim in Finland with releases starting to be pencilled in elsewhere for later this year. Publishing and touring are open for now but, we suspect, not for long.
