For the next few weeks The NMO will be featuring the acts scheduled to appear at the Helsinki In Berlin event on 16 & 17 September at Frannz Club, Berlin. So, following last week's feature of epic Finlanders, Murmansk, here is another great Finnish band we want to tell you about - Rubik. Signed to Helsinki's ultracool Fullsteam label, Rubik will already be known to a lucky few of you who caught their storming performance at 2008's Popkomm. The band is set to release their much anticipated follow up to 2007's "Bad Conscience Patrol" LP with another glorious set of songs called "Dada Bandits". Described (by experts other than The NMO) as looking like a blond Kings Of Leon and sounding like a collision between TV On The Radio, Arcade Fire and Animal Collective, Rubik's live shows have been honed to energetic perfection by extensive touring of North America and Europe with the likes of Mogwai, Autechre and Disco Ensemble. You'd be silly not to check them out, right?
